Foodie Gift Ideas

Sometimes I get really stumped when buying presents, don't you?!  It can be especially hard if you're buying for a "foodie" - they probably have all of the things they need in the kitchen so I've been doing some online window shopping to see what's out there that would make a great gift from the very small to a few more special things..

Stocking stuffers
Egg molds are a great way to add a little fun to your lunch and I especially like these chicken molds from Little Bento World that have little feet! - $12 AUS

There's nothing better than cooking with fresh ingredients and you can't get much fresher than home grown oyster mushrooms!  GroCycle are a not-for-profit social enterprise and to keep coffee grounds out of landfills they grow mushrooms, produce compost and biofuel. - £16.50

Isn't this a great idea - finally an easy way to strip leaves from herbs such as rosemary, sage, or tarragon!  Chef'n Zipstrip - £6.94

I think a little would go a long way with "Hot Stuff in a Matchbox"…£6

Most of the time I write out recipes on scraps of paper I find around the kitchen and then write them up on this here blog but how nice does this Moleskine recipe book look?  Super organised and something nice to keep for your family. - £7.02

Never be caught out on lack of condiments!  Keep a handy portable sized bottle of sriracha with you at all times! - $7 USD

Not Just for Christmas
How about giving your foodie friend a year's worth of inspiration?  A subscription to Good Food (or any other magazine!) will give them plenty of ideas! - £25

Tasty hand made marshmallows delivered to your door every month for an entire year?  Yes please!

I'm a firm fan of these Simply Cook boxes - you receive perfectly measured spices and seasonings for 4 recipes so all you need to do is get the fresh ingredients.  It's a great way to try out new recipes without having to buy  full sized jars of herbs which can get quite expensive!  You can choose a 3, 6 or 12 month gift (prices vary).

Never mind getting a takeaway - how about this 12 month subscription that includes recipes and spices to create a curry and all of the side dishes. - £80

Blow the Budget
In my personal opinion, every kitchen needs a Kitchenaid Artisan mixer!  Ok, so it's not the cheapest but they are brilliant AND there are so many attachments that they make great gifts for years to come!

Can you think of a better way to spend a day than a walking tour through Chinatown stopping off at a Chinese bakery and a Chinese supermarket then a 3 hour cookery course?

Molecule R-Evolution Cuisine Kit plus Molecular Gastronomy Book with 40 Recipes Introductory Package - for the Heston Blumenthal in your life! -£69.98

Speaking of Heston, his book, Historic Heston not only looks stunning and takes you through the ages by way of food. - £114.41
