Photo a Day 2016: August

I've been slacking again.  I skipped two months of my "photo a day" posts, I've hardly spent any time in the kitchen and I'm well off track on my 2016 reading challenge.  It's been super busy at work and it's been hot and...ok, ok, I'm just making excuses...

August is kind of the bridge between my least favourite season (summer) and my favourite season (autumn) but it's been a hot month and has only now started to feel that autumn is actually on its way.  I love autumn because you can wear more layers, you can snuggle up under a blanket and tis the season for comfort food!  Oh, and Great British Bakeoff starts again...hurrah!

Tv of the month: I FINALLY got all caught up with Pretty Little Liars (I worked it out that in total I watched 3 1/2 days worth to get through all of the seasons...) and then BOOM!  The announcement that after this season there won't be any more.  What now?!  

Film of the month:   "Insidious"  - I do like a good creepy film.  Not the gory ones but the ones that have you on tenterhooks for ages then all of a sudden something makes you jump.  "Insidious"

Book of the month:  I'm not sure this counts as a book but I saw it on one of my favourite Instagram-ers posts and HAD to order it...

Never never never stick your head out of a moving train. Our third #dahlalong post is his very amusing 24 page illustrated pamphlet published by British Rail in 1991, just after Dahl died in 1990. British Rail had asked him to write the text and Quentin Blake to illustrate it just in time and thousands of children enjoyed his marvellously funny and completely appropriate guide. For example "The child is surrounded by GIANTS and the trouble with these beastly GIANTS is that they seem to spend most of their lives telling the child WHAT TO DO and WHAT NOT TO DO." We have four of these for sale £4 each including postage. Favourite food of the month: Guacamole!  It's one of my favourite snacks, especially when you have home made tortilla chips to dunk.
