Degustabox: March 2016

I received my first Degustabox last month and was pretty excited.  A box full of goodies delivered right to my door?!  Yes please!  I tell a lie - it wasn't delivered to my door because I wasn't in that day but they have a handy-dandy option to have it delivered to a selection of local businesses that stay open later so picked it up from there...

Anyhoot, March came around and it was time for my second delivery.  I'll be honest, I wasn't that keen on some of the things that came in the previous box but I'm all for second chances so had my fingers crossed for the contents of the second box.  I collected my box and was excited to see what was inside.  As was one of my kitties...

So...what was inside..?

There was a little bit of a breakfast theme this month...

BRIOCHE PASTIER - Pain Au Chocolat
"These NEW Pains au Chocolat contain a generous helping of delicious crème pâtissière. Individually wrapped, they are ideal for breakfast on the go or as a snack. Free from preservatives, hydrogenated fats and artificial colours."
Total cost: £1.40

WEETABIX - On The Go Breakfast Drink
"Weetabix On The Go Breakfast Drink with extra Protein delivers a proper breakfast that fits your morning routine because it contains all the energy and fibre of a Weetabix cereal with milk in an ultra-convenient, smooth and tasty drink. Plus its packed with an extra 20g of Protein per serve to keep you feeling full, energised and ready for the day ahead. It also contains 4 vitamins, iron and calcium and absolutely no artificial colours, flavours, preservatives or sweeteners."
Total cost: £3.00
I've tried these before and although they were tasty, like a healthy strawberry milk, I am very much not a liquid diet type of person so could never use these to replace a solid breakfast.

GOOD HEMP - Original
"Good Hemp is a nutritious dairy free alternative to milk. Made from the natural goodness of hemp seed it is a natural source of Omega 3 and is completely allergen free. Good in every way."
Total cost: £1.49

Some savoury snacks...

KARYATIS - Meze To Go
"Karyatis Meze To Go brings a taste of the Mediterranean to your everyday snacking. A delicious sweet & smokey roasted red peppers and tangy feta dip, perfectly complimented by crunchy rosemary crackers, all packed in an easy-to-carry box. Ideal for a quick treat bursting with succulent Mediterranean flavours, our Karats Meze To Go is everything you need for a tasty, easy to eat snack, conveniently packed in a handy little box so you can enjoy it everywhere."
Total cost: £1.99

PARLE - Monaco
"The light, crispy biscuit sprinkled with salt, is the perfect savoury twist you can add to your ordinary boring moments"
Total cost: £0.39
Sort of like Ritz crackers but not as cheese-y - they were pretty good on their own and had a nice saltiness to them and think they would be perfect with a smear of cream cheese on top.

KENT'S KITCHENS - Rustic Red Onion, Herb & Horseradish Stuffing
"Kent’s Kitchen stuffings are a tasty addition to a roast dinner. Made with all natural ingredients and chunky pieces of fruit, herbs and spices, these easy to make stuffings will complete your meal. Just add water, stir, bake and serve the delicious stuffing for an added taste explosion. Each pot serves four people."
Total cost: £1.85
So I got stuck in to the stuffing before I had a chance to take a "pretty" photo of it...I was making a roast dinner and thought it was the perfect opportunity to try it out.  As stuffing goes it was tasty but really didn't get any of the red onion or horseradish flavours.

More snacks!

PIPERS CRISPS - Cheese & Onion Crisps
"Pipers Crisps endavours to make Britain’s tastiest potato crisps. They have won 23 Gold Great Taste Awards and have been voted “Best Snack Brand” by the readers of Fine Food Digest 4 times. Pipers cook locally sourced potatoes in sunflower oil and seasoned with flavours sourced from passionate regional suppliers."
Total cost: £2.00
Not my favourite flavour (I'm a salt and vinegar girl...) but nice texture and crunch.  I would look out for these in a different flavour though!

METCALFE'S - Skinny Popcorn
"Metcalfe's skinny's newest addition to the popcorn family, Cinema Sweet! Sweetened with natural stevia leaf extract, Metcalfe’s skinny are the first to introduce this delicious and unique popcorn, which has 67% less sugar than all other sweet varieties on the market. With only 93 calories per serving, say hello to guilt free munching!"
Total cost: £1.50

KALLO - Milk Chocolate Rice Cakes
"At Kallo, we believe smooth Belgian chocolate and puffed wholegrain rice is a combination not to be messed with. So we don’t. Keep snacking simple with our delicious Chocolate Rice Cake rounds, and with 78 calories per cake, they are the perfect sweet treat."
Total cost: £1.00
Yes!!!  These are actually "the perfect sweet treat"!  I took them to work with me for a post-lunch nibble and thought they were absolutely delicious!  Very light and crispy rice cakes topped with creamy chocolate.  The only bad thing about them was my fingers got quite sticky from the chocolate melting when I picked them up but I can live with that!

KALLO  - Kallo Quinoa and Seeds Multigrain Cakes
"We don’t think eating sensibly has to mean saying no to the things you love. We’ve developed these delicious Multigrain cakes with sunflower, sesame and pumpkin seeds perfect for snacking on their own or top with your favourite ingredients for a lovely light lunch."
Total cost: £1.89

CHEWITS - Strawberry & Blackcurrant
"Chewits were one of the first chewy sweets to hit the streets! Like those who chew them, they’re great fun and a little bit cheeky. In the 50 years they’ve been around they’ve had some sweet success and remain an iconic British confectionery brand still loved by the nation today."
Total cost: £1.40
Oh my goodness, I was happy to see these in the box!  I LOVE Chewits and strawberry is my go-to flavour.  Ok, they're probably not that good for you but it's ok to have a sugar-y treat sometimes and I actually like the artificial strawberry flavour!  By the way, if you haven't already, try the fruit salad ones!

PARLE  - Hide & Seek
"Indulge in the mouth-watering delight of India’s best moulded chocolate chip biscuits"
Total cost: £0.59
Moulded biscuits?  Not quite sure what this means...they're square biccies with teeny tiny chocolate chips.  Honestly not the best biscuits I've ever tried but good to have in the snack drawer (yes, we have a snack drawer) for biscuit emergencies.

Last but not least, a lovely little Easter treat!

LINDT - White Chocolate Bunny
"Discover the delicious Lindt White Chocolate Gold Bunny 100g, made by the Lindt Master Chocolatiers this Easter. Using the highest quality ingredients to create the smoothest chocolate available; you will want to savour every mouthful of this delicious Lindt White Chocolate Gold Bunny."
Total cost: £2.99

So this box was totally a winner!

Things I probably wouldn't go out of my way to buy again:
Meze to go, Weetabix on the Go, Parle crackers and biscuits.

Things I definitely will be buying:
Hallo chocolate covered rice cakes (already bought some!), Chewiest and any Lindt chocolate.

Overall cost of box: £21.49

The total value of March's box was a bit less than February's box I feel like I got better value because I liked so many more of the things included this month.  I'm still pondering as to whether it's worth it or not so will wait on tenterhooks for the April box!
