A London Birthday

Wow, it's hot!  But I am grateful for the sun as I've just come home from spending 3 1/2 days in London to celebrate my mum's 50th birthday!   My mum flew in from the States, my sister from Finland and I took a short train journey into the city...

Our "base" for the week was a wonderful hotel very near to Paddington (convenient for travel) and only a 5 minute walk from Hyde Park - St David's Hotel

We did waaaaaay too many things to list here but here are some of the highlights...

A crowd of tourists sang "Happy Birthday" to mum while she was sitting on a lion in Trafalgar Square

Saw London from a different angle on a hop on/off bus tour which also included a river tour

London is certainly a city that is full of life and was the perfect backdrop for a 50th birthday!

Who says statues can't join in the fun?!

Saw this cheeky fella hiding on top of a lamp post

Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament

Apparently Father Christmas keeps his sleigh at Buckingham Palace during the summer!

"Cheers" to mum!
