Photo a Day 2015: September

What a month!  The big event this September (and possibly this year) was our house move which happened just at the end of the month.  We are now residents of Twickenham!  Because we decided to treat ourselves to getting the removal company to pack everything and then move us we weren't frantically packing for days before the move so it didn't feel real until the day of the actual house move.

I took the week off work so that I could spend time unpacking and getting everything in its place at a decent pace rather than having to frantically try to find things to be able to get to work the next day.  It's also meant that I've been able to spend a bit of time having a wander up the high street to nose around the shops - there's a sushi shop, a burrito bar, LOADS of charity shops, cafes and a few shops that sell everything you could ever think of including one that has not only a mighty impressive pick 'n' mix selection but also the biggest collection of Yankee Candle votives that I've ever seen outside a Yankee shop!

Did I mention my new high street also has a communal piano?

Oh and I'm a 10 minute walk from the rugby stadium - just in time for the world cup!  I'm not a rugby fan but am looking forward to the first big game (tomorrow!) because I just can't imagine what it will be like with 90,000 rugby fans wandering around the area!

We also live really close to Richmond now - I've had a little drive around the town centre and it looks wonderful, full of nice little shops, cafes, delis and a WHOLE FOODS!  I'm looking forward to adventuring and trying out all these places (no doubt there will be a few foodie reviews being posted soon)!

Tv of the month: Dr Who is back!  I'm not sure about the storylines so far - I'm still a big fan of the David Tennant era and haven't seen anything as gripping as those plots but I have to keep watching!

Film of the month: "Cloverfield" - how have I never watched this?!  I love epic apocalypse/zombie/end of the world films so am surprised that it's been out for 7 years now and only just watched it!  It started quite slowly but once it got going, it really got going!  I thought the handheld camera a la "Blair Witch" would drive me crazy but I didn't even notice it after a while.  It was utterly gripping!

Favourite food of the month: It's been a while since I've made them but my favourite meal this month has been steak sandwiches.  Super easy to make but a bit fun and all about DIY - sliced steak, grilled onions, sub rolls, chips and ALL the sauces…

Best day: Two for this month - the very first Taste of Berkhamsted and obviously moving into a new house!

Worst day: Leaving the lovely town of Berkhamsted - I really enjoyed living there for 3 years…still, it's time for a new adventure!

If you're on Instagram, a lot of my "photo a day" photos are on there - be sure to send me your Instagram link as well!

  1. Congrats on the successful move! It's often a stressful and complex thing and one should be proud to finish it like you did. Seems like your location is perfect now. Oh, and the piano looks so cool and I'm sure a lot of people show their talents. I also agree that Cloverfield is a great movie. My last one was Interstellar and I was blown away by it. Thanks for sharing the post - I really enjoyed reading. Well written!
